Wells Seafood

our favorite:

Mike’s Clam Shack

Mike’s is directly across the street from the cottage. In our opinion, it has the best fried seafood. It’s standard New England coastal fare in a casual, family-friendly environment.

Other Common Recommendations:

Hobb’s Harborside

People love this place. We find it pretty basic but come back to it for the view and the service. Food generally comes out very quickly. It sits directly on the marsh with numerous tables with views. It’s also quite close to the cottage.

Fisherman’s Catch

Another common recommendation from locals. Very comparable to Hobb’s with a unique rustic design. They also have a marsh view and offer live music quite frequently. They now feature online ordering.

  • Reservations: online waitlist

Billy’s Chowder House

The final go-to recommendation for your New England seafood fare with a view. They serve up award-winning chowder (I haven’t tried it myself). They also offer some fun specials (shuck a buck, buck a shrimp, bellini specials, etc) on days that many other restaurants are closed.

Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

Wells Lobster Pound

This isn’t a typical server-style restaurant but you can grab a lobster roll, cooked lobsters, fried seafood, and ice cream for eat-in (only a few tables) or take-away. It’s located directly across from the water. They are also a general fish market. Not my favorite lobster locale but other locals frequently recommend it.
